Posted @withregram • @rtrfm Our RTRFM feature is truly breathtaking - "Hand to Earth" from @australianartorchestra The Australian Art Orchestra, in collaboration with Yolgnu songman Daniel Wilfred and Korean vocalist Sunny Kim have put together a release (and performance) in the remote Tasmanian highlands that lives and breathes the 40,000+ year oral tradition of Yolgnu manikay, the song cycles originating in South East Arnhem Land. Call it ambient, call it neoclassical, call it traditional, call it experimental - it doesn't matter. Expertly crafted, organic, soulful, meditative and bone chilling; across seven tracks this team of collaborators taps into something deeply relatable and human within us, evoking an ancient commonality and rawness. Minimal compositions make up for their bare bones approach via intricate sonic contrasts and seamless interplay between voice and instrument - the unique landscape of the country we live on represented pretty much perfectly.
