Roper Bar

Roper Bar facing downriver, at the Roper Bar crossing. Roper River was named by Leichhardt, Ludwig Leichhardt, a German national who named the Roper River after John Roper, one of the men who was with Leichhardt at the time. Roper River and its region belongs to my grandmother and grandfather from my mother’s side (my gagu). Painting Roper Bar was a big challenge for me working with watercolour for the first time. I always thought that watercolour was messy to work with. But now I like to paint with it.
