Abel Joshua was born in 1982 and grew up in Ngukurr, Northern Territory. He began learning art at a young age while attending school in Ngukurr, where he developed his interest in drawing and painting.

From early on, Abel enjoyed creating images from his imagination and dreams. His paintings often feature trees, animals, and natural landscapes, reflecting his strong connection to Country and the environment. Rather than working from direct observation, he prefers to paint from memory, feeling, and creative vision.

Music is an important source of inspiration for Abel. While listening to his favourite songs, he finds ideas, rhythm, and mood that influence his colours and compositions.

Through his art, Abel expresses his inner world, cultural connection, and personal stories. He continues to develop his practice and remains an active member of the Ngukurr Arts community.
