GETTING TO NGUKURR

Ngukurr is approximately a 3.5 – 4 hour drive from Katherine, NT, depending on the conditions. Take the Stuart Highway towards Alice Springs and turn off outside of Mataranka onto the Roper Highway. 60kms of the Roper Highway approaching Ngukurr is unsealed. Travel in daylight and check the road conditions before you leave.

All vehicles must pull off the road to allow for an oncoming road train or heavy vehicle to pass.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Ngukurr is a dry community. It is illegal to consume or bring alcohol into Ngukurr.

 

TRAVEL PERMITS

The Northern Land Council permit system is designed to help protect the privacy of Aboriginal communities, preserve Aboriginal culture, safeguard the natural environment and promote visitor safety. If you are staying overnight, you will need a permit to visit Ngukurr.
