Roper River

‘This painting of the river is about the people of the Roper River, my gagu (grandmother). Their totem is the jardugal (kangaroo), I’m dallying (grandson) for them and I am the djungai (the boss that looks after the land for the traditional owners). I speak for them, but I leave it to the djungai to make important decisions.’ – Alan Joshua
